What affects running cost?

Running cost depends on wattage, how long the unit runs, the humidity target, room temperature and how much moisture you create. Drying laundry indoors, cooking without ventilation and cold external walls can all increase run time.

Reading the result

The estimate assumes the unit is drawing its rated power for the full time entered. In real use, many dehumidifiers cycle on and off once the target humidity is reached, so actual cost may be lower. Laundry drying, cold rooms and persistent damp can increase run time.

Compare cost against the benefit: faster clothes drying, reduced condensation, fewer musty smells and less mould risk may make controlled use worthwhile.
